APC debunks PDP speculations against its guber candidate

…. Says Alia’s name remains intact on INEC portal

By Titus Atondu, Makurdi

The Benue State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) has dismissed in it entirety the smear speculations making round the nooks and crannies of the state, that the APC governorship candidate’s name, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia is not on the portal of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and won’t be on the ballot in the forthcoming general elections.

In a press statement signed by Daniel Ihomun, the State Publicity Secretary and made available to Nigerian NewsDirect on Tuesday insisted that the APC governorship candidate name remains intact on the INEC portal.

The statement reads ;
We view with dismay, the antics of the failed, factionalized and bulkalnized People’s Democratic Party (PDP), mischief wherein they claim that the candidate of our party, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia’s name is not on the portal of INEC and therefore won’t be on the ballot for the office of governor in the 2023 general elections.

Ordinarily, we wouldn’t have responded to this kick of a dying horse, but we wish to put the record straight for unsuspecting members of the public who might be misinformed by the PDP’s tissues of lies.

The Benue State APC wants to make it clear that the name of our gubernatorial candidate, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Alia was never removed from the INEC portal.

Let it be known that the Court of Appeal which ordered for a rerun in 11 of the 23 local government areas in Benue State never ordered INEC to remove the name of Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Alia from their portal.

The said letter which was submitted to INEC by the National Secretariat of the APC after the rerun of 11 local government which Fr. Alia won convincingly was just for administrative and procedural purposes.

We understand the reasons for such tantrums from the PDP, the PDP is frightened to the bone to face their worst nightmare and boogeyman, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Alia in the 2023 general elections.

The PDP also was only putting a smokescreen on the pathetic Presidential Rally which it held at Aper Aku stadium. The presidential rally exposed the total factionalization of the Benue PDP as the faction loyal to Gov. Samuel Ortom totally boycotted the presidential rally, leaving only a handful members of the Sen. Gabriel Suswam’s camp.

Finally, we want to urge the failed and factionalized PDP to focus on the crisis in it’s camp and redeem its battered image rather than throwing bunches in the dark.

The Benue APC is poised to provide a better alternative to the Benue people by providing leadership that will bring development, peace and prosperity for all Benue people and no lie no matter how well cooked can change this reality.
