Ekiti State Police Command has confirmed the killing of one person in Ado-Ekiti by unknown persons.
The young man was said to have been killed after he was allegedly hit with a charm while celebrating the result of the APC congress.
The Ekiti State Police Public Rations Officer, ASP Sunday Abutu who confirmed the incident to Our Correspondent said investigation had commenced to unraveled the killers.
His words, “Our control room got a distress call that while some persons were at the small pavilion celebrating their victory during the wards congress, a yet to be identified person beat his fellowman, who later gave up the ghost, with a substance suspected to be charm.
Investigation has commenced, as ordered by the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, CP Tunde Mobayo in order to apprehend the perpetrator.
Meanwhile, a cross section of persons in ward 09 Ado-Ekiti staged a protest over the alleged manipulation of the process and alleged imposition of unpopular candidate.
In a chat with Nigerian NewsDirect in Ado-Ekiti shortly after the excercise, one of the APC member, Mr. Azeez Jimoh Adekunle who contested the chairmanship seat of Ado ward 09 called on the national body of the party to declare him winner or cancel the election for fresh process.
He said, “What transpired during the election was shameful and unacceptable, adding that those who queued behind him were almost two hundred and fifty but his opponent who has less than seventh persons was declared winner.”
