The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday congratulated Chief Bisi Akande on the occasion of his 82nd birthday.
The party described the octogenarian and former governor of Osun as a grassroots politician and staunch advocate of progressive politics and governance.
The party said this in a statement in Abuja by Sen. John Akpanudoedeghe, the National Secretary of its Caretaker and Extra-ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC).
It was reported that Akande was APC’s first interim national chairman.
“The APC joins family members, friends and associates in congratulating Chief Akande on the laudable achievements he has recorded in his private and public life.
“An elder statesman, grassroots politician, astute administrator and staunch advocate of progressive politics and governance.
“The APC is proud to note that Chief Akande’s many achievements is as a result of his sincerity of purpose and personal sacrifices he has exhibited in positions of authority he has occupied at state, national and party levels,” he said.
According to the statement, APC owes a great deal of appreciation to Akande for his pivotal leadership which laid the foundation for its electoral victories in the 2015 General Elections.
Akande had, APC said, remained a father figure in the polity and a unifier in times when the it needed a voice of reason to settle its differences.
APC prayed for Akande’s good health as he continues to contribute to the growth of the country and the party.
