APC chieftain lauds Senate on electronic transmission of votes
Chief Elvis Agukwe, a chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) has lauded the Senate for approving electronic transmission of votes by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during elections.
Agukwe said this when he spoke with the Newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday.
He congratulated Nigerians on the development, expressing confidence in the capacity of INEC to handle the new task.
“The Senate approval of electronic transmissions of votes is in order. It must not succumb to emotional blackmail.
“Doing the right thing at the right time is in order, INEC has said that it can handle it and so be it,” he said.
The APC chieftain reiterated his belief in the capacity of INEC to conduct credible elections, expressing hope that the development would help improve the country’s electoral fortunes.
He urged INEC to demonstrate its capacity to Nigerians for the electronic transmission of results in future elections.
“We do hope that this will help improve our electoral fortunes, I support the adoption, INEC must justify its inclusion,” he said.
The Senate on Tuesday passed a bill approving electronic transmission of election results in the country.
