The Chairman of the Rerun Governorship Primary Election Appeal Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Benue State Chapter Umma Kolo, has disclosed that the rescheduled governorship primary election conducted across the 11 local government areas and 137 council wards of the state was in conformity with the laid down rules of the party.
Kolo also revealed that for nobody or group of persons to come out and table a petition against the conduct of the rerun election, shows it was the true reflection of the wishes of the general members of the party.
Kolo who was represented by Barrister C.J. Chimoba made the disclosure on Friday at the Secretariat of APC Benue State Chapter, explaining that members of the Appeal Committee for the rerun Governorship primary election arrived Makurdi to witness for themselves the processes of the rerun election to the announcement and declaration of the winner of the election with the sole aim to ascertain if the processes were followed correctly or not.
“We the three man appeal committee for the rescheduled governorship primary election were here at the party secretariat since 8am in the morning after the rerun election yesterday, to receive complaints, petition and protest emanating from the conduct of the rerun governorship primary election but nothing contrary was received.
“Even though the election was an internal party affair, we observed the presence of INEC officials and security agencies to ensure peaceful and rancor free rescheduled election.
“We also observed that the rerun election conducted was generally accepted by the party members and was in conformity with the rules of the party.
“Up to this moment we have not received any complaint, protest or petition against the conduct of the rerun governorship primary election from any body or group of persons, therefore we will wind off the appeal committee with the view to write our report and submit at the national secretariat,” he stated.
