The administraton of Hon. Fatai Adekunle Ayoola, the Chairman, Ajeromi ifelodun Local Government, marked his 100 days in office in style by doling out N100,000 each for 50 beneficiaries.
The event also witnessed the LGA collaboration with Nigerian Ports Authority, where 190 women and men in Ajegunle, were empowered with Hair dryers, Grinding machines, Deep freezers and Power generators.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nwachukwu, who represented the Nigerian Ports Authority, appealed to the beneficiaries on why the equipment that were presented should be utilized for the purpose with which it was given.
He said: “We’ve had experience in the past where beneficiaries sold the equipment that were given to them.
“ And we hope this won’t be like that, as we urge you to use them for the purpose it was given.”
While acknowledging the Corporate Social Responsibilities gestures of the Nigerian Port Authority (NPA), Hon. Fatai Adekunle Ayoola, the executive chairman of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area, attuned everybody in attendance with the historical analyses of the Nigerian Port Authority’s corporate existence in Apapa, which he asserted as Oluwa’s land, and the celebrated litigation that follows through late High Chief Amodu-Tijani Oluwa, and who got compensated with £2,000 through the Privy council in 1920.
He said, “My administraton is committed towards alleviating the challenges associated with youth unemployment and women productivity in Ajegunle.
“I can say confidently that my administration has empowered over 5,000 youths, including endorsements and recommendations for business brands in Ajegunle,” he said.
Hon. Ayoola seized the opportunity to present the cheque of N1,000,000 to the winner of first position football players, N500,000 to the second position, and N250,000 to the third position footballers in Ajeromi Ifelodun LG.
Speaking further, the council mayor was of the opinion that data collection for prospective beneficiaries is accurate in AJIF LGA, and that management of NPA should be rest assured that the equipment that were presented would be utilized for the purpose it was given.
“Our resourceful Vice-Chairman, Hon. Lucky Uduikhue, has done a fantastic job to attract this laudable project for our artisans in Ajegunle.
“I can assure you that the beneficiaries will make use of these equipment judiciously,” he added.
Hon. Ayoola also emphasized the need for Ajegunle graduates to be employed more by NPA, as he insisted that, “Ajegunle is blessed with resourceful youths that can add value to NPA’s productivity.”
Hon. Ayoola also used the medium to fulfill his electoral promise by presenting N100,000. each to 50 beneficiaries, as part of his annual empowerment business grants to residents in AJIF LGA.
Also, a cash sum of N2,000,000 was presented to winners of the Ayoola’s Peace Cup Street Soccer.
First place, runners-up and third place teams were presented with their cash sums at the ceremony.
Promise, a beneficiary and hair dresser, expressed satisfaction over the action of the Council Chairman, which she termed ‘generous.’
The administration of Hon Fatai Adekunle Ayoola partnered with the Nigerian Port Authority, to empower 190 youths and women.
The program is geared towards providing a suitable platform for youths and women to become productive, and has recieved wider interest amongst the populace in Ajegunle.
Speaking on the partnership program with the Nigerian Port Authority, Hon. Ayoola was of the opinion that his administration has continually fostered ways on how to liberate youths and women in Ajegunle, hence the partnership with Nigerian Ports Authority, which is one amongst many from his government in the grassroots .
“We have put in place on several occasions, partnership programs and projects on how to liberate our youths from economic chaos.
“My first two years in office was dedicated to youths and women empowerment.
“Our administrative success with Lontor, Adara Foundation, Chambers of commerce and others are part of this government’s economic testimonies, on how to keep our youths busy and productive.”
