Angry residents set ablaze two suspected armed robbers in Uyo


Two members of a five-man gang yesterday at Abak road, Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State met their morbid death as residents and motorists along the Federal Secretariat Complex mobbed and alighted them, after trying to snatch a bag from a woman.

Speaking to our correspondent, one of the eye witnesses who pleaded anonymity said they were five in number, and had engaged in robbing a woman around 9.30 pm in the night.

He furthered “they were five in number, they cut the woman hands to cut her handbag and phone and those okada men saw them and ran after them, three of them escaped, while the two culprits were caught inside the gutter hiding, the okada people dragged them out and they burnt them to dead.”

It was further gathered that though the police arrived the scene later, but they refused to carry the corpses, so they burnt to ashes.
