The Abuja Newspapers Distributors Association (ANDA) has recently conducted election, to determine whether to reelect the existing ones, make a change entirely or retain the entire incumbents.
The election was conducted on Saturday the 17th of July 2021 at the Newspaper Distributors Centre, Garki, Abuja.
The election, however, saw all the incumbents returned unopposed.
Reelected to the positions of president, deputy president, secretary, assistant Secretary were Benji Obute, J.S. Abuh, Femi Emmanuel and Adedayo Aketepe respectively. Reelected to the positions of Financial Secretary, Treasurer, Assistant Financial Secretary and Welfare were Benson Ujong, Ibrahim Alhassan, Mrs Jacinta Ivonne and Mrs Eunice Ogundare respectively. Others were George Joseph, for provost I, Murtala Abdulahi, provost II and Uket Abam for public relations officer.
Accepting to continue to serve the Association, the president however spoke on behalf of the executives.
He said, “I want to ensure that we consolidate on the success recorded in the first tenure, among are bringing a befitting convenience (toilet facilities) at the centre; building of two more tents; completion of the fence.”
He also said that they would use this tenure to acquire a permanent site for the association, just as he pleaded for the support of members for the association to move to the expected level.
Hailing newspaper publishers for cooperation so far, Comrade Benji Obute, urged them to use all their machineries to make the public and private sectors, among others know that buying and reading of newspapers isn’t one of the ways of contacting the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic.
“Let them continue to patronise us as we are ready to give them better services,” he pleaded.
