Ancelotti claims La Liga’s tactical acumen surpasses Premier Leagues’

Real Madrid Boss, Carlo Ancelotti recently made headlines when he claimed that La Liga boasts a superior level of tactical prowess compared to the Premier League, following his team’s commanding 4-0 triumph over Celta Vigo on Sunday.

The esteemed Italian coach, renowned for his illustrious career with league title victories across Europe’s top five leagues, shared his perspective with the press in Spain.

Despite the influx of players and top-tier managers migrating to the Premier League attracted by its financial allure, Ancelotti contends that La Liga maintains a strategic edge.

Notably, seven current Premier League managers, including four Spanish coaches, previously plied their trade in La Liga.

This trend briefly included Julen Lopetegui at Wolves before his departure.

Speaking to Diario AS, Ancelotti elaborated on his viewpoint, emphasizing the nuanced differences between the two leagues.

While acknowledging the Premier League’s intensity and pace, he underscored La Liga’s tactical sophistication as its distinguishing feature, suggesting a higher quality of strategic gameplay.

Ancelotti’s comments add fuel to the ongoing debate surrounding the contrasting styles and strengths of football leagues, stirring intrigue and discussion among fans and pundits alike.

“It’s different. This doesn’t mean better or worse. There are less tactics,” Ancelotti said.

“On a tactical level, La Liga is much better than the English one. If we talk about intensity and rhythm, the English league may have more. But the Spanish have more tactical quality.”
