Anambra Decides: APGA, PDP lawmakers defect to APC

Eleven Anambra lawmakers from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

They were received by interim APC national chairman Mai Mala Buni, according to a press statement by the party’s spokesman Amman Mohammed.

Mohammed stated that the decampees include five serving and four former House of Representatives members, and two Anambra House of Assembly members.

He said that Mr Buni, who is also the governor of Yobe, congratulated the new members, saying they made the right decision by joining the APC and bringing their people to the national movement.

“You have taken the right decision at the right time, you will enjoy all the rights and privileges of the party,” he quoted Buni as saying.

The politicians are switching platforms ahead of the November 6 governorship election in the state.

Mr Mohammed said the defectors eulogised Mr Buni for giving APC the required leadership and taking the party to greater heights.

They promised to deliver their constituencies to the party in the forthcoming election, he noted.

Other party bigwigs who joined Mr Buni to receive the decampees at the Imo Governor’s Lodge, Abuja include the Speaker House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, and Governors of Imo, Kogi, Kano, Jigawa and Kebbi States.

The defectors include: Douglas Egbuna, Ebuchi Offor, Vincent Oguwelu, Ifeanyichukwu Ibezi, Emeka Anoku, Chris Emeka, Ifeanyi Monah, Ohwudili Ezenwa, Chinwe Nwaebili, Chuma Nzeribe and Emeka Azubogu.
