Anambra community leader and another individual abducted two weeks ago have been released

The President General of the Umunze Progressive Union (UPU), Engr Ezekiel Iheazor, and a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Nze Ikechukwu Okoli, who were abducted in Umunze, Anambra State two weeks ago have regained freedom.

The men were kidnapped at the residence of the APGA chieftain in Lomu village, in Umunze.

A local had told journalists then that the incident had sent shock in the community, throwing it into mourning mood.

However, jubilation erupted in the community on Thursday night when the community leader and the APGA chieftain were released by their abductors.

An indigene of the community told The Newsmen that the men returned last night after staying over two weeks in the den of their abductors.

The source was, however, unable to state whether the families of the abductors paid any ransom before they were released.

As at the time of filing this report, police was yet to make official statement able the release of the men.
