Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has offered free land and attractive incentives to global investors in a bid to secure the establishment of a specialized pharmaceutical manufacturing plant and boost industrial growth in the state.
The Governor made the commitment in Abuja during a high-level investment meeting at the headquarters of the Presidential Initiative for Unlocking the Healthcare Value Chain (PVAC).
Top on the agenda was a closed-door session with executives from the Jampur Group, an international conglomerate with two decades of operational experience in Nigeria.
The multinational group has explicitly signaled its intention to set up a commercial pharmaceutical manufacturing plant in Borno State, alongside a massive food processing factory dedicated to producing Tom Brown, a highly nutritious, locally sourced meal used to combat infant malnutrition.
Speaking on his administration’s readiness to protect and accelerate private capital, Governor Zulum guaranteed that red tape would not stall any incoming project.
“Borno State is ready to provide the necessary support for investors,” Zulum said.
“We will make land available and offer every necessary incentive required to ensure the successful establishment of the proposed pharmaceutical manufacturing company and other related industrial projects, he added.
Beyond typical fiscal incentives, the Governor noted that investors often overlook the massive cross-border market that Borno naturally commands due to its strategic position at the edge of the Lake Chad basin.
“Borno occupies a strategic position that gives investors access to the entire Northeast market as well as five neighboring countries,” the Governor explained.
“Goods produced here have enormous market potential, making our state an attractive destination for investment.”
The strategic meeting was heavily backed by federal authorities, drawing the personal attendance of the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, and the Director-General of PVAC, Dr. Abdul Mukhtar.
The Jampur Group’s delegation was led by its Country Manager, Mohammad Asad Javeed, while Governor Zulum was accompanied by his top policy hands, including the Borno State Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Professor Baba Malam Gana, and the Special Adviser on Monitoring and Evaluation, Engr. Baba Bukar Gujibawu.
