Human rights activist and 2027 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has criticised Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and his nephew, music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, accusing the family of prioritising private business and political interests over public service.
Reacting to recent political developments in Osun State on Monday, Sowore alleged that the family’s political manoeuvring revolves around protecting personal stakes and maintaining control over state resources.
The activist’s remarks followed reports surrounding Governor Adeleke’s alleged endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for a second term, as well as claims that Davido expressed disagreement with his uncle’s political stance before deleting a social media post on the matter.
“I stated categorically that Governor Ademola Adeleke is empty upstairs.”
“Of course, his loud and lousy cousin, Davido, couldn’t take it and went on a rant,” the AAC standard-bearer posted on his social media page.
Sowore added that his initial assessment was not born out of mere political opposition, adding that he had read reports that Davido allegedly disagreed with his uncle’s endorsement of Tinubu for a second term.
“But can you trust Davido on this? This is the same Davido who deleted his tweet saying he would not support Tinubu for a disastrous second term,” Sowore asked.
The AAC leader urged citizens to evaluate political actors based on actions rather than public statements.
“At the end of the day, Nigerians should watch what they do, not merely what they say,” he stated.
Sowore further alleged that the Adeleke family views the governance of Osun State as a private enterprise rather than a public trust.
“Their politics revolve around family interests, protecting their stakes in the power sector, their cash cow and maintaining their grip on Osun State, which they treat like a family jackpot,” he alleged.
“That is not public service. It is politics built around private interests,” he concluded.
