The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has rebutted allegations made by Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso regarding external influence in his departure from the party, describing his exit as a self-inflicted consequence of his attempts to hijack the party structure.
Reacting to recent claims that outside forces were destabilizing the party’s leadership, the NNPP maintained that the internal friction was rooted in Kwankwaso’s anti-party activities and his unauthorized attempts to subsume the party’s identity into his personal Kwankwasiyya movement.
The party’s leadership clarified that Kwankwaso and his associates were not pushed out by external meddlers, but were instead long-expelled following a series of court judgments that upheld the authority of the party’s original founders.
The NNPP National Secretary, Ogini Olaposi, emphasized that while Kwankwaso joined the party in 2022 to leverage its platform for the 2023 elections, his recent move toward the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is a strategic realignment born out of necessity rather than sabotage.
The party urged the public to disregard claims of external interference, asserting that the NNPP is now focused on rebuilding its original structure ahead of the 2027 polls, free from the nuisance value of former factions.
