The Solutions for Internally Displaced Persons and Host Communities (SOLID) project teams in Yobe and Bauchi States are deepening collaboration to improve support for communities displaced by conflict.
Newsmen reports that Bauchi’s SOLID Project team has just concluded a three-day technical study visit to Yobe on Saturday.
The visit was organised by the Bauchi Project Implementation Unit (PIU) of the World Bank-assisted SOLID to learn from Yobe’s implementation experience and boost Bauchi’s readiness as a Tier-2 participating state under the programme.
Led by Bauchi State SOLID Project Coordinator Dr Abdulsamad Abubakar, the delegation was hosted by the Yobe State PIU management team headed by State Coordinator Suleiman Dauda.
Abubakar said the engagement was initiated to help Bauchi “learn from Yobe’s implementation experience, particularly in financial management, safeguards compliance, monitoring and evaluation, grievance redress mechanisms, community engagement and coordination with Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).”
He added that the visit would also allow Bauchi to “identify practical lessons and operational strategies that could accelerate implementation” as it scales up activities under the SOLID project.
Abubakar commended Yobe for its progress in implementation preparedness and institutional coordination, calling the visit “timely and beneficial to Bauchi State’s readiness efforts.”
He also thanked the Yobe team for their hospitality and openness.
During the sessions, the Yobe SOLID team showcased key milestones in policy and institutional readiness, procurement planning, stakeholder engagement, safeguards compliance and inter-ministerial coordination.
Presentations and discussions covered project governance structures, staffing arrangements, livelihood programming, service delivery in humanitarian settings and collaboration with durable solutions partners.
Yobe State SOLID Project Coordinator, Suleiman Dauda, stressed the value of peer learning in building stronger implementation capacity.
“Peer learning and inter-state collaboration are critical to strengthening implementation capacity across participating states,” Dauda said.
He reaffirmed Yobe’s commitment to supporting knowledge exchange that promotes “effective project delivery, compliance and sustainability.”
