YEDC announces power outage across N/east

The Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) has announced a series of planned power outages for residents in the North-east.

In a notice posted on its Facebook page, the YEDC reveals that the disruptions are a result of extensive upgrade and maintenance works being carried out by contractors from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) on the Jos–Bauchi–Gombe 330kV line, a vital power artery spanning a 276km route.

The DisCo noted that from April 9 through May 22, 2026, customers in Adamawa, Taraba, and Yobe States should prepare for significant daytime interruptions.

According to the management’s schedule, these outages will occur at least four days per week, typically lasting from 9:00 am until 6:00 pm.

Beyond the logistical challenges of the power cuts, YEDC has expressed serious concern regarding the security of electrical infrastructure during these periods.

The company is encouraging all customers to remain vigilant and work together to safeguard community transformers and other critical assets against the threat of vandalism while the lines are inactive.

While acknowledging the inconvenience this six-week project will cause, the management emphasized that these upgrades are essential for the long-term improvement of the regional power grid and expressed appreciation for the continued patience of the public.
