The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has announced the successful upload of the names of its presidential candidate, running mate, and National Assembly candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s Candidate Nomination Portal ahead of the 2027 general election.
The party’s National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed, made the announcement in a statement issued on Sunday, describing the development as another milestone in the party’s preparations for the upcoming polls.
According to Mohammed, the successful submission reflects the party’s determination to participate fully in the 2027 general election.
“I am pleased to inform all PDP members and Nigerians that our great Party, under my leadership, has successfully uploaded the names of our Presidential Candidate, his Running Mate, and our National Assembly candidates onto the INEC Candidate Nomination Portal.”
“This is a clear demonstration of our commitment to the promise we made that, under my leadership, the PDP will fully participate in the 2027 General Elections. Today, we have taken another decisive step towards fulfilling that promise,” he said.
A screenshot of the INEC portal released alongside the statement showed the PDP dashboard indicating that 410 new candidate forms had been registered. Out of this total, 367 had been submitted, while 43 were still pending.
Mohammed stated that the party was awaiting the completion of the uploads for its governorship and State Houses of Assembly candidates before concluding the entire nomination process.
He also congratulated party members across the country and in the diaspora on the progress recorded so far, emphasizing that together they would continue to build a stronger, more united party and a better future for the nation.
The announcement came hours after the Independent National Electoral Commission extended the deadline for political parties to submit the names of their presidential and National Assembly candidates through its online nomination portal.
The development also followed a confirmation by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) that it had completed the upload of its 471 candidates including President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, 109 senatorial candidates, and 360 House of Representatives candidates to the INEC portal.
