Activist and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) senatorial aspirant Aisha Yesufu has dismissed suggestions that FCT Minister Nyesom Wike poses a challenge to her political ambitions ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during an interview on Sunday Politics, Yesufu stated that her focus is on securing the senatorial ticket of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and winning the support of voters, rather than worrying about political appointees.

According to her, Wike’s position as an appointee does not make him a direct political rival.

She stressed that her primary goal is to obtain the mandate of the people and provide Abuja residents with a credible alternative they can support with confidence.

The former ADC member appealed to NDC members and FCT residents to participate actively in the party’s primary election, noting that public goodwill alone would not guarantee victory. Consequently, she urged supporters to come out and vote during the upcoming primaries.

Yesufu also revealed that she has completed consultations and screening processes ahead of the election, expressing confidence in her ability to offer accountable representation if elected.

She further noted that she will address rivals such as Ireti Kingibe and Philip Aduda only after securing her party’s ticket.
