Why Ibadan will experience partial blackout for 7 days – IBEDC

The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has explained why parts of Oyo state, will experience a three-hour power outage for seven days.

In a statement on Tuesday, IBEDC revealed that about 22 communities in Ibadan, Oyo state, will experience a three-hour power outage for seven days due to ongoing road construction.

The electricity distribution company (DisCo) said this prompted the relocation of its facilities and assets.

“Kindly be informed that due to ongoing road construction along Foodco Road, Idi Isin, Ibadan, IBEDC facilities and assets in the area are being relocated,” the statement reads.

“Some feeders will be switched off for approximately 3 hours daily from Monday, 5th January 2026, to Friday, 9th January 2026.

“Affected communities and premium customers include: Alalubosa GRA, Ogunkola, Museum, Akinola Maja, FRIN, Forestry College, Lead City, Lead British, House 18, Eleventh House, Commissionaire, Nursing Home, Sunrise, Post Housing, AMI Complex, ODUA, Police Headquarters, Apampa, The Heavens, Blosom Heritage, Polo Club, Baale Akintayo.”

The company apologised to its customers for the inconvenience caused.

On January 5, the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) said parts of Katsina metropolis were experiencing power outage after a fire incident that affected a power transformer at a substation.

KEDCO said the affected areas had been isolated as a safety measure to protect lives and property.
