Former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, has given reasons for his resignatiom from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Omo-Agege in a letter dated May 22, 2026, and addressed to the Chairman of Orogun Ward 2 in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State communicated his resignation with immediate effect.
In his letter, the former lawmaker explained that his decision followed wide consultations with political associates, loyalists and supporters across the state.
Omo-Agege explained that recent developments within the APC made it difficult for him to effectively pursue his political goals and protect the interests of the people of Delta Central, Delta State and Nigeria at large.
According to him, remaining in the party would limit his ability to advance the aspirations of his supporters and contribute meaningfully to national development.
“I will not remain a sitting duck in a party where I cannot advance the interests of Delta Central, Delta State and Nigeria,” he stated.
His resignation is expected to reshape the political landscape in Delta State ahead of future elections.
Recall that Omo-Agege lost the APC Delta Central Senatorial District primaries to the incumbent, Senator Ede Dafinone.
