The Management of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has confirmed that the Warri-Itakpe Train Service (WITS) will officially resume operations on Wednesday, 30 April 2025, following a temporary suspension that began on 10 April 2025 due to multiple engine failures and other technical and operational difficulties.

In a statement signed by Acting Deputy Director of Public Relations, Callistus Unyimadu, the NRC, led by its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Kayode Opeifa, apologised to passengers, stakeholders, and the general public for the disruption and the effect the suspension had on daily activities.

“The suspension was necessary to allow our engineers and technical team the required time to rectify operational shortcomings and improve service delivery,” the statement said.

Management underlined that, after a thorough assessment of the situation, it is now satisfied with the improvements carried out and is confident in the readiness to restart operations.

As part of the revised operational schedule, the Warri-Itakpe Train Service will now run six days a week, from Friday to Wednesday.
