Some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were seen queuing on Saturday to receive money after participating in the party’s ongoing presidential primary election.
The incident occurred at L.A. Nursery and Primary School in the Iba Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, where party members gathered to elect a presidential flag-bearer ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The ruling party had earlier announced plans to conduct its 2026 presidential primaries through the direct primary mode, allowing all registered party members nationwide to participate in the exercise.
A document signed by the APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, stated that the direct primary would be held across the country’s 8,809 wards on Saturday, May 23, 2026.
Our correspondent, who monitored the exercise that commenced around 11:00 a.m. at the school, observed that participants from Wards A and D were instructed to form a single file after casting their votes.
It was gathered that some party members were initially given ₦3,000 before the amount was later reduced to ₦2,000 and ₦1,500.
Many of the participants were seen expressing dissatisfaction over the amount offered to them.
Party officials declined to disclose the total number of accredited members who participated in the exercise.
Incumbent President Bola Tinubu and Stanley Osifo are the two aspirants contesting for the party’s presidential ticket.
The APC national leadership stated that the collation and declaration of results for the presidential primary election would take place on Sunday, May 24, 2026, in Abuja.
