The Osun State University (UNIOSUN), College of Education, Ipetu-Ijesa Campus, has formally inducted 147 new teachers into the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), marking their official entry into the profession.

The induction ceremony, held at the Multipurpose Hall of the university’s main campus in Osogbo, was themed: “Transforming Teaching into Enterprise: The Role of Generative AI.” It served as both a celebration of academic achievement and a charge to the inductees to see teaching as a dynamic profession with limitless opportunities.

In her address, Provost of the College of Education, Professor Florence Adeoti Yusuf, reminded the new teachers that the ceremony was not just the end of their training but the beginning of a lifelong responsibility — “the journey to shape minds, ignite curiosity, and build the future.”

She urged them to embrace technological innovation, particularly artificial intelligence, in their teaching practice. Professor Yusuf described Generative AI as a “tireless assistant and creative partner” capable of transforming teaching from an artisan craft into a vibrant enterprise.

Also speaking, the Vice-Chancellor of UNIOSUN, Professor Clement Odunayo Adebooye, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic, Research, Innovation and Partnership), reaffirmed the university’s commitment to excellence. He highlighted recent achievements of the institution as proof of its role in driving innovation in higher education.

The event also featured the presentation of TRCN certificates to the inductees by the Council’s representative, Mrs. Mary Anekwe, officially welcoming them into the professional fold.

Principals and head teachers from across Osun State sent in congratulatory messages, commending the new professionals and urging them to uphold the values of integrity, diligence, and innovation in their classrooms.

Guest speaker at the ceremony, Dr. Segun Oduyebo, further emphasized the theme, encouraging the new teachers to adopt an entrepreneurial mindset and to identify creative opportunities within Nigeria’s educational landscape.
