The immediate past Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, has urged Nigerians to support President Tinubu and his economic reforms.

While fielding questions from journalists on preparations for the celebration of the former governor’s upcoming 60th birthday, the former Governor stated that when nations face an existential crisis, leaders are bound to rally around the incumbent leadership in a bid to rescue the economy and restore normalcy.

He noted that Nigeria’s case should not be different as the country confronts its current challenges, adding that the President deserves the full support of all citizens as the country’s macroeconomic ecosystem begins to yield positive results.

He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the bold economic reforms his administration has implemented and the positive impact they are beginning to have on key indicators.

He affirmed that as an active player in Nigeria’s economic and financial sectors, he has observed clear improvements in critical macroeconomic fundamentals.

In a statement, his Special Assistant on Media, Barr. Stephen Abia explained that Mr. Emmanuel is a deeply private person who typically shies away from personal celebrations.

However, because attaining the age of 60 is a significant milestone, he had previously agreed to a proposal by his friends to mark the occasion before later deciding to cancel the public celebration.

Abia added that Governor Emmanuel has instead chosen to devote the day to a private retreat, during which he will offer supplications and reflect on the critical themes of leadership, responsibility, and nation-building.

The former governor stated that he could not ignore the positive macroeconomic data emerging from the far-reaching economic reforms undertaken by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He expressed confidence that, in due course, these improvements in the macroeconomic fundamentals will translate into tangible benefits for ordinary Nigerians and strengthen the country’s overall economic well-being.

He maintained that policies that advance the national interest deserve the undivided support of all Nigerians, and he assured the President of his continued backing to further strengthen reforms that promote Nigeria’s economic growth, stability, and prosperity.
