A two-storey residential building has collapsed along Ajuwon Baale Road, leaving several residents feared trapped beneath the rubble.
The incident reportedly occurred on Monday, with eyewitnesses raising concerns over the number of occupants who may still be trapped inside the collapsed structure.
According to eyewitness accounts, several tenants were believed to have been in the building when it suddenly collapsed. However, the exact number of people trapped or the number of casualties could not be immediately confirmed as of the time of filing this report.
The collapse has sparked an urgent call for emergency responders and relevant authorities to mobilise to the area and commence rescue operations.
“We make an urgent appeal to the Lagos State Government, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, NEMA, and all relevant emergency responders to immediately mobilise to the scene and rescue those still trapped.”
Residents and eyewitnesses are also calling for immediate intervention, stressing that the situation requires urgent attention to prevent further loss of lives.
“Time is critical. Every second counts.”
The appeal is coming amid concerns that some of the building’s occupants may still be buried under the debris, making a swift response necessary.
Emergency agencies are expected to assess the situation, search through the rubble and evacuate anyone found trapped under the collapsed structure.
