Two men, David Ameh (49) and Abel Udoh (43), were on Thursday arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing books valued at N5.2 million.
The defendants, whose residential addresses were not disclosed, are facing two counts of conspiracy and theft. They pleaded not guilty to the charges.
According to the prosecutor, SP Josephine Ikhayere, the alleged offences were committed between October 2024 and May 2025 at Learn Africa Plc, located at Felix Inwerebon House, Oba-Akran Avenue, Ikeja.
Ikhayere told the court that the duo unlawfully took books worth N5.18 million belonging to the publishing firm, Learn Africa Plc. The offences, she said, violated Sections 287 and 411 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.
Magistrate Lateef Owolabi granted the accused persons bail in the sum of N300,000 each, with two sureties in like sum. The sureties, the magistrate ruled, must be gainfully employed and show evidence of tax payment, subject to verification.
The case was adjourned to August 4 for hearing.
