Nigerian Armed Forces, in collaboration with local vigilante groups, have rescued six abducted individuals and recovered herds of stolen cattle during a coordinated operation in Kebbi State.

The Director of Security in the Cabinet Office, Abdulrahman Zagga, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Tuesday, stating that the victims and stolen livestock originated from Kokanawa and Ukuhu communities in the Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area.

Zagga explained that the operation was initiated following instructions from Governor Nasir Idris, in response to recent reports of bandit attacks in the region.

“The security team pursued the bandits to the Zamfara River axis, where the victims were successfully rescued and the rustled cattle retrieved. The bandits abandoned their captives and fled as the team advanced. All six victims have now been reunited with their families,” he said.

Zagga praised Governor Idris for his continued backing of security agencies and expressed hope that the Governor’s pledge to establish a security base in the Zuru Emirate would bolster peace and order in the area.

“I want to sincerely commend our dedicated security personnel who remain steadfast in their duty to safeguard Kebbi State, working tirelessly around the clock,” Zagga added.
