Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, operating under Operation DESERT SANITY, have recorded fresh operational successes.
These include the rescue of abducted civilians, the reunification of families, and the arrest of suspected terrorist collaborators across parts of the North East.
According to a statement from the Military Information Office, troops rescued six women and children during a coordinated operation at a suspected terrorist crossing point near Amuda.
This followed intelligence gathering and an air interdiction mission around the Mandara Mountains on May 12, 2026.
The rescued victims—Aisha Musa (18), Aisha Mohammed (17), Fatima Yahaya (20), Saudatu Musa (4), Garba Mohammed (5), and a three-month-old infant, Mohammed Yahaya were among residents of the Ngoshe community abducted during a March 3, 2026, attack attributed to Boko Haram/ISWAP elements.
The victims have since received medical attention at a military facility and were reunited with their families through the community leader (Bulama), Mallam Adamu Gunda.
In a separate development, troops stationed at Tango 7 in Konduga Local Government Area arrested a 40-year-old suspected terrorist associate, Hauwa Bulama.
Items recovered from her included household supplies such as detergent, soap, a torchlight, and seasoning cubes. Preliminary investigations suggest she was en route to Gezuwa to meet her children, who are allegedly linked to terrorist activities.
Similarly, troops under Sector 2 of Operation HADIN KAI, supported by Military Intelligence operatives, arrested two additional suspects in Damaturu—Bakura (18) and Adiza (17) following intelligence-led operations connected to an earlier interception of a suspected ammunition courier, Ba’akaka Abubakar (also known as Modogol).
Security sources disclosed that Adiza was allegedly assigned to collect ammunition for onward delivery to a terrorist commander. Efforts are ongoing to track and apprehend the said commander and recover the consignment.
The military reiterated its commitment to sustained operations aimed at dismantling terrorist networks, rescuing abducted persons, and restoring lasting peace across the North East.
The statement was signed by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer, Headquarters, Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI.
