Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, have successfully repelled a coordinated attack by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists and launched a devastating counter-offensive in the Buratai axis of Borno State.
The military disclosed that the terrorists launched multiple attacks in the early hours of Friday on troop locations at Dusten Kura and Chara Road in Buratai, Biu Local Government Area.
According to the military, alert troops, acting on credible intelligence, swiftly detected the insurgents’ movements and responded with superior firepower through a coordinated air and ground assault.
The counter-offensive, supported by the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI and the Nigerian Air Force, proved decisive as Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance assets, alongside precision strike platforms, effectively disrupted the terrorists’ advance.
The military said the air support integrated seamlessly with ground troops, inflicting heavy casualties on the attackers and forcing them to retreat in disarray.
Notably, no casualties were recorded among the troops during the operation, while the terrorists suffered significant losses in both personnel and equipment.
The latest victory, according to the Theatre Command, highlights the high operational readiness of Operation HADIN KAI troops and the strong synergy between the air and ground components in sustaining pressure on insurgents across the North-East.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to denying terrorists freedom of movement and ensuring the safety of law-abiding citizens in the region.
It also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible intelligence to security agencies.
The Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, stated that the operation remains committed to sustaining aggressive offensives aimed at degrading terrorist capabilities and restoring lasting peace to the North-East.
