Troops of the Headquarters 63 Brigade/Sector 1, Joint Task Force, South South, under Operation Delta Safe, have recorded a major operational breakthrough with the recovery of arms and the arrest of two suspected criminals in Ogidigben Community of Delta State.
The operation, which was carried out following reports of sporadic gunfire within the community, led to the confiscation of 4 AK-47 rifles, 6 magazines, and 106 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition. Other items recovered include 2 knives, 10 machetes, and 4 rain boots.
According to military authorities, the swift response by troops was based on credible intelligence, enabling them to effectively contain the situation and apprehend the suspects, who are currently in custody, undergoing further investigation.
The Commander, 63 Brigade, Brigadier General Moronfolu Abdulmoshood Shonibare, commended the troops for their professionalism and resilience during the operation, charging them to maintain the momentum in ongoing security efforts across the region.
Shonibare reiterated the Brigade’s commitment to denying criminal elements freedom of action, warning individuals and groups involved in illegal possession of arms or criminal activities to desist, as security operations would be intensified to track down offenders.
The Nigerian Army, through Operation Delta Safe, continues to sustain efforts aimed at combating insecurity and safeguarding lives and property in the Niger Delta region.
