Traffic diversion announced for Tincan-Apapa pedestrian bridge repairs

18 Dec 2025

The Lagos State Government has issued a travel advisory regarding a temporary traffic diversion at Tincan First Gate, Apapa, to facilitate repairs on a damaged pedestrian bridge.

The Ministry of Transportation confirmed that the works, supervised by the Federal Ministry of Works, will take place on Saturday, December 20, 2025, between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. The operation will be executed in two distinct stages to manage safety and flow.

In the first phase, the road from Tincan to Mile 2 will be completely closed for approximately 20 minutes during the installation of bridge beams.

During the second phase, traffic will be diverted to a single lane 50 metres before and after the work zone to allow for the installation of bridge slabs. Traffic moving from Mile 2 toward Tincan will remain unaffected throughout the process. Motorists are advised to cooperate with traffic officials to ensure safety and minimize delays during the repair period.
