Tinubu’s reforms deserve collective commitment – Oyetola

The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Dr. Adegboyega Oyetola, has called on Nigerians to give unwavering support to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, describing the Federal Government’s ongoing developmental initiatives as “a generational blessing” deserving of national protection and collective commitment.

Oyetola made the appeal at the 34th Iragbiji Day Celebration, a colourful cultural event attended by top traditional rulers, industry leaders, political figures, and thousands of indigenes. The Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Abdur-Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi (Odundun IV), led the host community in welcoming dignitaries from across Osun State.

Speaking to an enthusiastic crowd, the former Osun State Governor highlighted President Tinubu’s contributions to Iragbiji’s recent transformation, especially the establishment of the Federal University of Agriculture and Development Studies, Iragbiji (FUADSI) and the approval to site a School of Fisheries in the town.

Describing the two institutions as landmark achievements with long-term impact, Oyetola said they represent “a generational blessing… a legacy that will change the face of Iragbiji forever.”

He noted that FUADSI would expand educational access, stimulate innovation, boost job creation, and attract international collaborations.

On the approved School of Fisheries, Oyetola explained that it aligns perfectly with the country’s emerging Blue Economy agenda, positioning Iragbiji as a hub for skills development in aquaculture, marine sciences, and environmental sustainability.

“These projects must be seen not just as government interventions, but as living legacies for generations yet unborn,” he said.

The Minister also used the opportunity to urge residents to maintain full support for President Tinubu, whom he commended for equitable and inclusive national development. “By supporting his policies, we support progress, unity, and a better future,” he added.

Oyetola paid glowing tribute to Oba Olabomi, praising the monarch’s leadership for fostering peace and progress in the community.

He also cautioned young people against drugs and criminal activities, reminding them that “there are no shortcuts to lasting success.”

The event, marked by cultural showcases, community fundraising, and reunions, underscored Iragbiji’s rich heritage. Oyetola encouraged residents to extend their well-known hospitality to the incoming staff and students of the new federal institutions.

“As we celebrate the 34th Iragbiji Day, let us look to the future with hope,” he said. “Iragbiji’s greatness lies not in her size, but in the greatness of her people.”

The ceremony ended with renewed optimism, as indigenes pledged continued commitment to the town’s growth and development.
