Alhaji Ibrahim Kabir-Masari has introduced a scholarship scheme to support Katsina indigenes studying medical and healthcare-related courses in Nigerian universities.
Masari, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Political and other Matters, announced the initiative in a statement issued in Katsina on Thursday.
The initiative, known as the Ibrahim Kabir Masari Medical Students Scholarship (IKMSS), is aimed at providing financial support and encouragement to eligible students.
He said the scheme was designed to contribute to the development of future healthcare professionals who would strengthen healthcare services and improve community wellbeing.
Beneficiaries include students studying Medicine and Surgery, Dentistry, Nursing Science, Pharmacy and Medical Laboratory Science.
Others are Physiotherapy, Radiography, Optometry, Anatomy and Physiology, as well as other recognised medical and healthcare-related programmes.
According to him, to qualify, applicants must be indigenes of Katsina State and enrolled in accredited Nigerian universities.
“They must also be studying eligible medical or healthcare-related programmes, possess valid National Identification Numbers (NIN) and provide complete academic and identity documentation,” he said.
Kabir-Masari said applications would be submitted online without requiring applicants to create accounts, and interested students can apply through the official application portal, https://ikmss.com/.
He said the initiative reflected his commitment to supporting young people through education and investing in the next generation of healthcare professionals from Katsina State.
According to him, the scholarship is expected to provide opportunities for eligible students to pursue their academic ambitions and contribute to the development of the healthcare sector upon graduation.
