Ex-CDS assumes role one day after Senate confirmation
Appointment comes amid rising security pressures nationwide

President Bola Tinubu on Thursday administered the oath of office to former Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, who has now formally assumed duty as Nigeria’s Minister of Defence.

The short ceremony, held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, took place less than 24 hours after the Senate screened and confirmed Musa’s nomination.

The President had earlier forwarded his name to the upper chamber following the resignation of Mohammed Badaru, who stepped down from the role on health grounds.
