…directs military, police, DSS to intensify operations in vulnerable communities
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the Minister of Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff, the Service Chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police, and the DSS Director-General to track down and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the attack on Kasuwan Daji in Niger State, while urgently rescuing all abducted victims.
This was contained in a statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, on January 4, 2026.
The statement reads partly: “These terrorists have tested the resolve of our country and its people. They must, therefore, face the full consequences of their criminal actions. No matter who they are or what their intent is, they must be hunted down. They, and all those who aid, abet, or enable them in any form, will be caught and brought to justice,” the President declared.
“These times demand our humanity. We must stand together as one people and confront these monsters in unison. United, we can and must defeat them, deny them any sanctuary. We must reclaim the peace and security of these attacked communities,” the statement added.
The President issued the directives following the recent killings of villagers in Kasuwan Daji, believed to have been carried out by terrorists fleeing Sokoto and Zamfara states after the United States’ airstrike on Christmas Eve.
He condemned the attack and abduction of women and children, sending heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and the Government and people of Niger State.
Tinubu assured that security agencies have been mandated to intensify operations in areas most vulnerable to attacks, especially forests that serve as hideouts for criminals, emphasizing the government’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
The President also urged Nigerians to remain united and resilient, cautioning against divisive rhetoric that could undermine national security and cohesion during this challenging period.
