President Bola Tinubu has made a series of fresh appointments across three major federal institutions, naming new members to the boards of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), the Bank of Agriculture (BOA) and the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF).
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, who was appointed earlier in the year, will continue as chairman of the UBEC board. The President approved several new zonal representatives, including Uchendu Ikechi Mbaegbulem for the South-East and Gift Ngo for the South-South.
Other appointments to the UBEC board include Mrs Ibiwunmi Akinnola (South-West), Dr Meiro Mandara (North-East), Dr Abdu Imam Saulawa (North-West) and Professor Paul Ibukun-Olu Bolorunduro (North-Central). The statement added that the chairman and members will serve an initial four-year term.
At the Bank of Agriculture, President Tinubu confirmed Muhammad Babangida as the board chairman and Ayo Sotinrin as managing director. He also approved three executive directors: Fatima Garba as Executive Director, Corporate Services; Ka’amuna Ibrahim Khadi for Risk Management and Strategy; and Hakeem Oluwatosin Salami for Operations.
Five non-executive directors were named to represent the six geopolitical zones: Aminu Malami Mohammed (North-East), Charles Amuchienwa (South-East), Oladejo Odunuga (South-West), Rabiu Idris Funtua (North-West) and Kochi Donald Iorgyer (North-Central).
The President also completed appointments into the National Agricultural Development Fund, reaffirming Muhammad Abu Ibrahim as executive secretary and chief executive officer—an earlier appointment from 2023.
Tinubu approved Mallam Bello Maccido, a veteran financial expert and pioneer chair of FBNQuest Merchant Bank Limited, as the NADF board chairman representing the North-West. Other members include financial consultant Dr Nelson Henry Essien (South-South), Amina Ahmed Habib (North-West), and Ondo-born engineer Akinyinka Olufela Akinnola (South-West).
Also appointed are Hassan Tanimu Musa Usman (North-East), Lufer Samson Orkar (North-Central), and Felix Achibiri from Imo State (South-East), who is a senior executive in the energy and investment sectors.
