The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu alongside 3 State Governors are set to grace the 25th National Women’s Conference (NWC).
The Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO), led by its Chairman and First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, made this known during a press briefing in Lagoos yesterday.
She described the event as a landmark celebration of visionary legacy, women empowerment, and transformative leadership. Speaking at a press briefing in Alausa, Ikeja, on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, Dr. Sanwo-Olu announced the Silver Jubilee theme: “25 Years of Visionary Legacy: Inspiring the Next Generation,” reflecting COWLSO’s sustained commitment to women’s welfare, leadership, and economic empowerment.
The three-day Conference will hold from Monday, October 28th, to Wednesday, October 30th, 2025, at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos. It is expected to attract 3,000 physical delegates and 2,000 virtual participants, totaling 5,000 attendees from across Nigeria and beyond.
Dr. Sanwo-Olu disclosed that the First Lady of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, is expected to deliver the Silver Jubilee Address.
The event will also feature key political leaders: His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodinma, Governor of Imo State, will serve as the Special Guest of Honour at the Opening Ceremony, while His Excellency, Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto of Sokoto State, will grace the Closing Ceremony, joining the host, Governor Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.
Dr. Sanwo-Olu noted that the participation of these dignitaries underscores COWLSO’s growing national influence as a unifying platform for promoting women’s development.
She emphasized that this milestone edition challenges the organisation to reflect on its journey, celebrate its legacies, and hand the baton to the next generation of women leaders and change-makers.
Several pre-conference activities have already begun to extend the conference’s impact to the grassroots, including free health screenings, environmental sanitation exercises, empowerment of vulnerable persons, and visits to orphanages and care homes.
Additionally, the annual COWLSO Pre-Conference Awareness Walk, themed “Step Up, Show Up, Never Give Up,” is scheduled for Saturday, October 11, 2025, in Ikorodu to sensitize residents and inspire resilience.
