Three men have been dragged before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing fuel pumps worth N9.3 million from a Lagos auto parts market.
The suspects Chidiebere Eugene, 22; Promise Okechukwu, 30; and Ugochukwu Maduabuchi, 22 were arraigned on a three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing, and receiving stolen property. They all pleaded not guilty.
According to court documents, the alleged theft took place between 2024 and February 2025 at Ladipo Market in the Mushin area. Prosecutors claimed that Eugene stole 500 fuel pumps belonging to a trader, Charles Eze, and sold them at cut-rate prices to the other two defendants. The pair were accused of knowingly receiving the stolen goods.
The offences are said to breach Sections 287, 328, and 411 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.
Magistrate Lateef Owolabi granted the defendants bail of N650,000 each, with two sureties apiece. The sureties must be employed and provide tax clearance certificates from the Lagos State Government.
The case was adjourned to August 15 for hearing.
