Global technology brand, TECNO Mobile, has teased a groundbreaking new concept phone that features a true zero millimeter display border, completely removing the physical black edges around the screen.
The company officially teased the device, named the TECNO Next-Gen Bezelless Concept Phone, in Hong Kong on Friday, July 31, 2026.
For the past decade, smartphone makers have made screens bigger and borders thinner.
However, a major problem remained across the mobile industry. Necessary wiring and safety space inside phones always left a thin black line, usually between one to two millimeters wide, separating the screen from the outer frame.
To eliminate that final black edge, TECNO completely redesigned the inside of the phone.
By reorganizing internal parts, rebuilding the frame, and using new screen packaging methods, the company successfully reduced the visible black border down to zero millimeters for the first time in mobile engineering.
The result is a completely open screen experience where photos, videos, and games extend all the way to the absolute edges of the device, making the display look as though it is floating in your hand
.Beyond making the phone look sleek, the design gives users a larger and clearer view for everyday tasks like reading documents, browsing pictures, watching movies, and playing games without making the phone itself any bigger.
TECNO stated that the new screen technology also sets the foundation for future improvements in front cameras, touch sensitivity, speaker sound, and smart software features for its upcoming phones.
Following its initial preview in Hong Kong, TECNO will display the concept phone to the public at the IFA 2026 ShowStoppers event in September.
