The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced the commencement of a scheduled preventive maintenance exercise at its Okene 132/33kV Transmission Substation today, Wednesday.
According to an official notice released by the company, the maintenance work is scheduled to take place between 9:30 am and 2:00 pm.
The routine exercise is designed to allow the TCN technical crew to perform essential annual maintenance on a 60MVA power transformer, ensuring the long-term reliability and efficiency of the region’s power infrastructure.
In a move to alleviate concerns regarding potential blackouts, the TCN management has assured residents and businesses within the affected area that the exercise will not lead to a power outage.
“Please note that there will be no outage as a result of this maintenance. The load will be transferred to an alternative transformer to ensure a seamless supply of electricity throughout the duration of the work,” stated Ndidi Mbah, General Manager of Public Affairs.
This proactive maintenance is part of the TCN’s broader strategy to enhance grid stability and prevent equipment failure. By utilizing redundant systems to carry the load during repairs, the company aims to maintain service continuity while carrying out critical upgrades to the substation’s hardware.
