A 55 year old farmer, Mr. Ogunranti Adesina, and his 20 year old daughter, Tope Adesina, have reportedly been abducted by suspected Fulani herdsmen following a violent attack on a farmland in the Oloke area of Ogun State.

The incident was reported to the police on April 23, 2025, at about 11:00 a.m. by Mr. Ajayi Adesina, a 61-year-old resident of Seriki Street, Deeper Life area, along Oloke Express Road, Ogun State.

According to the complainant, the victims were attacked while working on their farm after suspected herdsmen allegedly invaded the farmland with cattle, destroying a large portion of the crops.

Ajayi explained that his younger brother, Ogunranti, who is well known in the community as a local farmer, confronted the herdsmen over the destruction of his farm produce, leading to a heated argument and physical altercation.

He disclosed that during the confrontation, one of the suspected herdsmen allegedly attempted to molest Ogunranti’s daughter, Tope, escalating tensions at the scene.

The situation reportedly turned violent when the suspects opened fire and forcefully abducted both Ogunranti and his daughter, taking them into a nearby bush.

Ajayi further stated that he was also attacked during the incident and sustained injuries while trying to intervene.

He was later rushed to a nearby hospital, where he received medical treatment.

The complainant noted that the Adesina family had previously been displaced from Jos, Plateau State, following attacks allegedly carried out by armed herdsmen.

According to him, Ogunranti had relocated first to Ibadan before eventually settling in Ogun State in search of safety and better living conditions for his family.

Police sources confirmed that the case involving assault, harassment, and abduction has been reported and transferred to the Divisional Crime Branch (DCB) for further investigation with the suspects still at large, while efforts are ongoing to rescue the abducted victims and apprehend those responsible.
