Stanbic IBTC crosses N100 mark, extends July rally with 18% gain

Stanbic IBTC Holdings Plc broke through the N100 price level during mid-session trading on 29 July 2025, securing a month-to-date increase of more than 18 per cent on the Nigerian Exchange.

Trading at around N101, the stock looked set to sustain its gains by the market’s close, becoming the second banking equity in the NGX Banking Index, after GTCO, to exceed the N100 threshold.

Investor optimism appears underpinned by the group’s solid fundamentals and the broader 23 per cent advance in the banking sector this July.

The rally has been bolstered by Stanbic’s Q1 2025 results, which recorded a pre-tax profit of N116.4 billion, marking an 85.6 per cent rise compared with the same period last year.

In May, shareholders approved a final dividend of N3 per 50 kobo share at the company’s Annual General Meeting, with disbursements completed within the month.

Further supporting sentiment, Stanbic secured a three-year CNY800 million (approximately N172 billion) facility from China Development Bank to strengthen Africa-China trade relations.

With buying interest holding firm, the stock has delivered a year-to-date return exceeding 74 per cent, underpinned by a cumulative trading volume of 180 million shares.
