The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in Sokoto State has announced plans to train 636 unemployed youths in various vocational, agricultural, and entrepreneurial skills as part of the second phase of the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative (RHEI).
The three-month programme, coordinated by the Public Works Sector of the NDE, will equip participants with hands-on training in over 30 skill areas. Interested applicants are encouraged to register online between July 28 and August 11 or visit the NDE office in Sokoto for assistance.
Sokoto State’s acting NDE coordinator, Lukman Abubakar, said the initiative is a strategic step to boost youth empowerment and align with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. “This initiative will not only train participants but also provide startup capital, tools, and equipment. Others will be linked to credit-granting institutions to launch or scale their businesses,” he said.
The programme offers a wide range of skill sets including digital literacy, poultry and fish farming, leather works, fashion design, hardware and phone repairs, electrical and solar installation, baking, plumbing, carpentry, beauty therapy, tie and dye, interior decoration, and hairdressing.
Nationwide, the NDE plans to engage a total of 21,782 unskilled and unemployed Nigerians during this phase of the initiative, according to the agency’s Director General, Silas Agara.
He emphasised that the programme reflects the administration’s commitment to job creation and inclusive economic growth.
