The Southern Kaduna Peoples’ United Association (SOKAPU) has expressed profound shock and alarm over the resurgence of violent attacks in the region, punctuated by the recent murder of Hon. Ibrahim Gajere, the former Chairman of Kajuru Local Government Area.
Gajere was reportedly ambushed and killed by bandits on February 16 during a burial convoy in the Dogon Noma community.
In a statement signed by its National President, Engr. Tabara Samuel Kato, the association lamented that earlier gains in the fight against banditry are quickly eroding.
SOKAPU questioned the effectiveness of ongoing operations, especially in light of recent allegations that high-level security information may have been compromised.
The group described the current situation as one killing too many, warning that the local population is losing confidence in the state’s ability to protect them.
The association is now calling for a radical shift in the state’s security architecture, demanding more proactive and innovative intelligence gathering.
They urged the federal and state governments to move beyond condolences and ensure the perpetrators of the Dogon Noma attack are brought to justice.
