A Magistrate Court sitting in Bolade, Oshodi, has convicted and sentenced six individuals to four months imprisonment following their arrest in the Mile 2 and Oshodi areas of Lagos State.
The convicts, identified as David Williams, Alabi Nurudeen, Felix Agu, Chukwuebuka Inyegboro, Ige David, and Anthony Afor were apprehended on Wednesday for various social and environmental infractions.
Upon their arraignment, all six defendants pleaded guilty to the charges preferred against them. The court subsequently sentenced each to a four-month prison term, a move seen as a reinforcement of the state government’s ongoing campaign against public disorder.
In a related development, the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) has sealed a property located at No. 8 Jebba Street, Ebute-Metta, Yaba, over severe environmental violations.
The enforcement action, carried out on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, was prompted by numerous complaints from residents regarding the persistent discharge of untreated faecal matter from the premises.
Investigations by the agency revealed that the property owners routinely left sewage chambers open, allowing raw wastewater to flow through a connected pipe directly into public drainage systems.
Authorities described the situation as a significant health and environmental risk to the community.
Officials reiterated that proper wastewater management is non-negotiable and warned that property owners who default on these standards will face strict sanctions, including prosecution.
The LSWMO emphasized that these measures are part of a broader effort to safeguard public health and ensure environmental sanity across the state.
