The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) has organised a Performance Management System (PMS) workshop for its Directors, Deputy Directors, and Heads of Units, reaffirming its commitment to enhancing institutional efficiency in line with the policy thrust of the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy.
The initiative follows the recent signing of a Performance Bond between the Council’s Directors, Heads of Units, and its Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Akutah Pius, during a Special Management Retreat in Lagos.
At the opening session, Director of Human Resources Management, Mr. Ahmed Garta, underscored the importance of the PMS framework in shaping the Council’s operations.
He urged participants to approach the training with diligence and a strong commitment to achieving measurable outcomes.
The facilitator, Prof. Adeyemi Ajayi, delivered insights into the principles and practical applications of performance management, expressing optimism that the training would build staff capacity and translate into tangible improvements across the Council’s performance indicators.
According to the NSC, the workshop represents a strategic step toward cascading performance targets to all staff cadres, forming part of a broader effort to entrench a performance-based culture where accountability and efficiency underpin service delivery.
