Nigeria’s Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima will on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, perform the official groundbreaking ceremony for the new ultra-modern National Control Centre (NCC) in Osogbo, Osun State.
The project, spearheaded by the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO), marks a strategic milestone in the Federal Government’s efforts to modernize the national electricity grid and transition into a transparent, resilient power management regime.
The ceremony will take place at the National Control Centre complex along New Ikirun Road in the Power Line area of Osogbo.
It is expected to convene key stakeholders across the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry, including leadership from the Ministry of Power led by the Minister of Power, the Osun state Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), development partners, generating companies, and distribution utilities.
The Osogbo facility has historically served as the operational nerve center of Nigeria’s electricity grid, coordinating generation dispatch, system frequency, and cross-border interconnections across West Africa.
The new ultra-modern complex will replace legacy infrastructure with high-level digital automation, equipping grid operators with advanced Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Energy Management Systems (EMS), Automatic Generation Control (AGC), and high-speed telemetry.
