Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Ekiti State for a series of high-profile engagements aimed at boosting infrastructure, economic development and institutional capacity in the state.
The Vice President’s visit will be marked by the commissioning of the landmark Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Flyover in Ado-Ekiti, a major infrastructure project designed to ease traffic congestion, improve road connectivity and enhance the movement of people and goods within the state capital.
As part of his itinerary, Shettima will also perform the groundbreaking ceremony for the Ekiti Knowledge Zone (EKZ), a flagship innovation and technology-driven project expected to position Ekiti as a hub for knowledge-based industries, digital entrepreneurship, research and investment. The project is seen as a critical component of the state’s strategy to attract technology firms, create employment opportunities for young people and stimulate economic growth.
The Vice President will further inaugurate the newly completed zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in Ado-Ekiti. The facility is expected to strengthen the commission’s operations in the South-West region and enhance efforts to combat economic and financial crimes.
The visit underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting strategic infrastructure, innovation and security initiatives across the country while reinforcing collaboration with state governments in driving sustainable development.
Government officials, traditional rulers, political leaders, members of the business community and residents are expected to participate in the ceremonies, which are regarded as significant milestones in Ekiti State’s development agenda.
