Shakeup as IGP orders redeployment of Senior Police Officers

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu has authorized the immediate redeployment of numerous senior officers across the Nigeria Police Force.

This major administrative shake-up is designed to fortify the Force’s command structure, elevate leadership capacity, and enhance service delivery nationwide.

Leading the wave of new appointments are several Assistant Inspectors-General of Police assigned to head strategic departments and zonal commands. At the Force Headquarters in Abuja, AIG Ado Emmanuel has been deployed to Research and Planning, while AIG Joseph Eribo takes over the Department of Armament.

The Department of Operations will now be headed by AIG Miller G. Dantawaye, alongside AIG Henry Ifeanyi Uche who assumes duty at the Department of Training and Development. Also at Force Headquarters, AIG Olanrewaju Peter Ogunlowo has been assigned to the Police Affairs Branch, AIG Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba moves to the Department of Legal Services, AIG Ahmed Musa takes charge of Community Policing, and AIG Haruna Olufemi assumes command of the Special Protection Unit.

At the zonal level, AIG Dahiru Mohammed has been posted to Zone 15 in Maiduguri, AIG Dankombo F. Morris heads to Zone 4 in Makurdi, AIG Bello Shehu is deployed to Zone 14 in Katsina, and AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh assumes leadership of Zone 2 in Lagos. Meanwhile, AIG Simeon U. Akpanudom has been stationed at the FCID Annex in Lagos.

The reorganization also extensively impacts state commands, with several Commissioners of Police taking up new leadership mantles. CP Haruna Alaba Yahaya has been posted to lead the Jigawa State Command, CP Olugbenga Ayodeji Abimbola to Oyo State, CP Olubode Ojajuni to Ogun State, and CP Michael Adegoroye Falade to Ekiti State.

Additionally, CP Yakubu Useni Dankaro assumes duty in Adamawa State, CP Muhammed Sanusi Ahmed takes over the Federal Capital Territory Command, and CP Olatunji Olaiwola Fatai moves to the Lagos State Command.

The Taraba State Command will now be led by CP Morkwap S. Dongshal, Zamfara State by CP Ahmed Mohammed Bello, Katsina State by CP Umar Ali Fagge, and Sokoto State by CP Hayatu Shaffa Hassan.

Within the Force Headquarters and specialized units, a host of Commissioners of Police have been entrusted with critical administrative and tactical portfolios. CP Betty Enekpen Otimenyin has been assigned to Welfare, CP Yemi John Oyeniyi to the Department of Training and Staff Development, and CP Aina Abesola to the Training Department. CP Akan Ezima has been appointed as Director of the NPF-NCCC in Abuja, CP Abbas Sule heads to the Special Protection Unit, and CP Ajo Geoffrey Ordue joins INTERPOL in Abuja.

Educational and training postings see CP Mnwadiogbu Cletus becoming the Deputy Commandant at POLAC, while CP Markus Ishaku Basiran has been assigned to Courses at POLAC, and CP Theodore C. Obasi takes the role of Deputy Commandant at the Police College, Ikeja.

In investigative and specialized capacities, CP Danjuma I. Yahaya has been posted to General Investigation at the FCID Annex in Kaduna, CP Sheik M. Danko to the FCID Annex in Lagos, CP Sarah Ehindero to Administration at the FCID in Abuja, and CP Ojugbele E. Adebola to General Investigation at FCID Alagbon in Lagos. CP Moses Ashu Otta has been assigned to SWAT in Abuja, CP Abdulrahim A. Shuaibu to the Eastern Ports Authority, and CP Edwin Ogbegbghagha assumes the role of Provost at Force Headquarters.

Other significant postings include CP Preye R. Egbe to INEC in Abuja, CP Adebisi Bola Lateef to Master Printing in Lagos, CP Bolou O. Etete to Community Policing, Research and Planning, CP Fidelis N. Ogarabe to the INTERPOL Annex in Lagos, and CP Eloho E. Okpoziakpo to the Special Fraud Unit in Ikoyi, Lagos.
Also within the Department of Operations at the Force Headquarters, CP Kayode Uthman Magaji takes charge of K9 in Dei-Dei, CP Mohammed Babakura handles Administration, CP Silas Bamidele Aremu oversees Safer Highway, and CP Magaji Ismaila directs Community Safety and Crime Prevention. Finally, CP Rebecca Uchenna Okereke has been appointed as the Director of Music.

A statement issued on Tuesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, confirmed that the sweeping deployments reflect the Force’s ongoing commitment to optimal personnel utilization.

The IGP charged all the newly deployed officers to leverage their extensive experience in their respective roles and uphold the highest standards of discipline, professionalism, and public service.
