The Special Fraud Unit (SFU), of the Nigeria Police Force, has sought a partnership with the Chinese Consulate in Lagos, to enhance the fight against fraud and other transnational crimes.
The Commissioner of Police, SFU, Mr Eloho Okpoziakpo, disclosed this on Thursday after a courtesy visit to the Chinese Consulate in Lagos, where he was received by the Consul-General, Mr Yan Yuqing.
This is contained in a statement signed by the SFU spokesperson, DSP Ovie Ewhubare and made available to newsmen in Lagos on Thursday.
Ewhubare said the meeting focused on strengthening international cooperation in intelligence sharing, technology and enhanced operational collaboration.
The spokesperson said the engagement also explored opportunities for training exchanges, professional development and the deployment of modern investigative technologies to enhance capacity of SFU detectives.
He said discussions also centred on the need for continuous exchange of knowledge, expertise and best practices to tackle increasingly sophisticated nature of financial and technology-enabled crimes.
The image maker said that Okpoziakpo thanked the Chinese Consulate for its support and called for sustained institutional collaboration and timely information sharing.
“Okpoziakpo, while thanking The Chinese Consulate stressed the importance of international cooperation in tracing illicit funds, identifying perpetrators and disrupting criminal networks operating across borders.
“The CP said the unit remained committed to strengthening strategic partnerships with diplomatic missions to improve its response to emerging security threats and build a safer society,” Ewhubare added.
